About:

Please make sure you pay for the course at the time of filling out the order form. We do not accept orders without payment so please do not fill out the form unless you intend to make payment at the same time.  Many thanks.

Please read the important info below before making your booking, and please check your puppy will be vaccinated before you sign up for the course.  Call me to double check if you are unsure.

Our puppy course is a 6 week course and is suitable for all puppies who are aged between 12-24weeks  at week one.  The ideal time to start is as soon as pup is fully vaccinated, so around 12-14 weeks. But, its never too late so as long as your pup is 24 weeks or younger at week one, this is the class for you.  If your pup is older than 24weeks please book the beginners class or some 1:1 training.

This is a 6 week course and the cost of this course is £99.  The puppy class starts on the date you choose in the drop down box and then will be on the same day and time each week for 6 weeks in total. The lessons are around 50-60minutes long. Very occasionally the 6 week course is spread over 7 or 8 weeks, so if this will be a problem for you do give me a call before you make the booking, to check if your course will be affected. It is not possible for you to swop between different classes as we limit the numbers in each class to no more than 6 pups.

These are the start dates available at present. More dates will be added for May/June soon.  Each class runs for 6 weeks from the start date below. However please note there are no lessons on Sat 27th April or Sat 11th May.

Thursday 11th April 6pm

Saturday 13th April 10.30am

Tuesday 23rd April 6.30pm

Saturday 4th May 9.15am

Your puppy will need to be fully vaccinated by the time you come to the first lesson so this means that your puppy must have had all core vaccines completed at least one week before attending the first class.  You are welcome to attend week one without your puppy and watch until puppy is fully vaccinated and able to attend. You can learn alot from watching. or do check out our puppy pre-school package.

During the 6 weeks we cover all the basics such as toilet training, biting/chewing/teething/mouthing, mental enrichment, lead walking, recall, jumping up, focus & connection, sit, stay and so much more.

All the puppy classes are held outside in a field which is a more natural and realistic environment for your pup than a village hall, plus it means everyone has plenty of space. Note: We do not cancel if its raining, but if the weather is bad we have a small covered area we can use or if its really bad we may do the lesson via Zoom. We would only do a lesson via zoom if we feel it would be more beneficial for the pups, for instance if torrential prolonged rain, thunder/lightening, snow, extreme cold or heat.

We encourage the whole family to come to class, but respectfully ask if you bring children under the age of 8yrs that two adults attend. One to train puppy and the other adult to supervise the child/children. We have found that children under the age of 8yrs get bored, as an hour is a long time for them to sit still, and it can be very distracting, not just for you and your puppy but for the other puppies too.  You will find you miss out on loads of info when trying to concentrate on young children as well as a puppy.

I highly recommend purchasing my home-schooling course as it works very well alongside the in person classes. Click on this link for more details of this fantastic course which contains 39 simple to follow videos and a 40page E-Book.  https://theogwelldogtrainer.co.uk/6-week-online-puppy-training/  The home schooling course also acts a very useful visual reminder of what we covered in the lessons. Sort of like a visual help sheet so is useful for everyone that attends class and at £35 for 39 videos and a 40page E-Book it is a bargain.

Please note our training venue is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs or anyone with mobility problems as the ground is uneven.  There are no toilet facilities on site.  Parking is limited so we ask that only one car per puppy come to class.

I am lucky to be able to hold the classes at the premises of (the now permenantly closed) ‘Holiday Home for Pets’, which is just outside East Ogwell, near Newton Abbot. Please be mindful that this is private property and not owned by the Ogwell Dog Trainer, so please respect it is someones home.

For directions to the venue click on Find us. Do Not use SAT NAV as it will often try to take you to a different address.  Though if you use google maps The Ogwell Dog Trainer should show up.

Please be aware, because we keep our class numbers small, once booked onto a course you cannot transfer onto a different date or time and any lessons missed or cancelled are not refunded. Refunds are only issued if at least 7 days written notice is given before Week One and an admin fee of £5 will be charged to issue the refund. We send the first help sheets about 6-7days before the course starts and once these have been sent we would only issue a refund under exceptional circumstances and £20 would be deducted for the help sheets and admin fee. Once the course has started no refunds are given. I have bills to pay too!

Please only make the booking and if you intend to pay for the course at the time of filling out the order form.  We do not accept orders without payment.  Payment is made via bank transfer.

Directions:

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU USE SAT NAV THE POSTCODE IS LIKELY TO TAKE YOU TO THE WRONG PLACE. SAT NAV WILL WANT TO TAKE YOU TO WITHERIDGE FARM WHICH IS JUST A FEW MINUTES AWAY FROM US, BUT ON THE WRONG ROAD! YOU NEED TO LOOK FOR WESTHILL ON CROFT ROAD JUST UP FROM CHERCOMBE BRIDGE ROAD.  It is best to use the directions below. Or try putting in the Ogwell Dog Trainer into Sat Nav.  See the map below also.

From Newton Abbot: Take the Totnes main road (A381). Follow the road to the mini roundabout by the cemetery. Turn right to Ogwell. Follow this road down into the dip and then all the way to the top of the hill. At the top you get to a junction (Ogwell Green), take the first turning on the right, signposted East and West Ogwell. Come down the hill into the village and take the first turning on the right, by the village memorial hall and The Old Bakery. Stay on this road for approximately 3/4 mile. You will now be on Croft Road which turns into a country lane leaving the village behind. Keep going! You will find us on the right hand side 3/4 mile from the village hall and approximately 2 miles (about 10 minutes) from Newton Abbot clock tower.

Alternatively

From Dyrons roundabout, take the Ashburton road (A383). After about a mile turn left into Orchard Grove, opposite the car wash at Mile End. Then next left into Chercombe Bridge Road. Follow Chercombe Bridge Road which is a country lane for 1 mile. You will go over Chercombe Bridge, keep going and take the next left signposted Ogwell. You will find Holiday Home for Pets at the top of the hill on the left.
